In this blog explain about how to enable timeline option for a custom table in Dynamics 365 CE
When i need to add the timeline into form but the timeline option is disable.
Then we need to flow the below step.

Steps
For custom tables to appear in the list of activities that can be added to a timeline control, make sure that when you create the table you configure the following settings:
- Enable the Activities.
- Enable the Notes (includes attachments) .
As show in the below figure.
After enable the “Activities” and “Notes” check the timeline option is enable as show in the bellow figure.
